US Stocks Open Higher

New York, Sep 1 (IANS): US stocks opened higher Wednesday as investors expected that the federal reserve will provide more stimulus efforts in the future, Xinhua reported.

The central bank's opinions on whether to carry out further quantitative easing policy were mixed, but investors bet that even though there was no third round of quantitative easing, the Fed would still boost liquidity in the market.

On the economic front, according to a report by payrolls processor ADP Wednesday, the US private sector job growth declined in August, with employers adding 91,000 positions.

The Dow Jones industrial average gained 20.70 points, or 0.18 percent, to 11,559.95. The Standard & Poor's 500 was up 9.06 points, or 0.75 percent, to 1,221.79. The Nasdaq Composite Index rose 19.26 points, or 0.72 percent, to 2,594.63.
