New Delhi, Sep 6: Following the leak of US Diplomatic cables about Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister being self-obsessed, Mayawati slapped back on Tuesday saying that the WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange is either ‘mad’or is ‘working with opponents’.

Reacting strongly to the cables, Mayawati demanded that the WikiLeaks owner be sent to an asylum.

However, Mayawati did not exactly give out the name in question, rather, just mentioned the term ‘WikiLeaks owner’.

One of the cable said that she had sent a private jet to Mumbai to get a pair of sandals for herself. "When she needed new sandals, her private jet flew empty to Mumbai to retrieve her preferred brand," a cable said describing her "eccentricities, whims and insecurities".

US embassy cables from 2007 to 2009 released by the WikiLeaks website describe Mayawati as "a first-rate egomaniac" who "is obsessed with becoming prime minister".

Claiming the stories to be attempts to tarnish her image, Mayawati said, "This is a conspiracy just before the elections.”
