High Alert in Uttar Pradesh


Lucknow, Sep 7 (IANS): A high alert was sounded across Uttar Pradesh Wednesday after a bomb blast in the national capital killed nine people.

Uttar Pradesh Police spokesman D.P. Srivastava said security had been specially tightened at the Allahabad High Court and its Lucknow bench as the Delhi High Court had been targeted.

Police chiefs of all 72 districts have been directed to intensify checking at important public places, including railway stations, bus stands and prominent markets, he said.

"Special directive have been issued to beef up security in religious cities including Varanasi, Ayodhya and Mathura," he added.
