Chidambaram Must focus on Terrorism, Not Opponents: BJP

New Delhi, Sep 7 (IANS): After a blast outside the Delhi High Court, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Wednesday asked Home Minister P. Chidambaram to concentrate on tackling terrorism and not on political rivals.

"Shri (Nitin) Gadkari has urged the union Home Minister Shri P. Chidambaram to stop training his guns against political opponents and concentrate his energies in tackling the menace of terrorism," an official statement from the party office said.

The Indian capital is on the radar of terror groups, Chidambaram earlier said in parliament, while identifying the blast as a terror attack.

BJP President Gadkari demanded "a high level probe" into the explosion that killed nine people and injured 45 others, the statement said.

"The probe should also look into the failure of the intelligence agencies," Gadkari said.

The attack has exposed the tall claims of the Delhi Police and the intelligence agencies about the safety of the national capital, he added.

Gadkari also expressed condolences for the families of the victims.

The blast occurred outside Gate No.5 of the high court complex around 10.30 a.m. Wednesday during peak rush hour.
