One Hurt in Odisha Train Accident


Bhubaneswar, Nov 23 (IANS): One person was injured early Wednesday when a passenger train collided with a goods train in Odisha's Jharsuguda district, police said.

The accident took place when the driver of the Koraput-Howrah Samaleswari Express jumped the signal at Jharsuguda railway station, 374 km from here, police official R.N. Bal told IANS.

Both the trains were at the station. The signal was given to the goods train to move but the driver of the passenger train moved his train, leading to the collision.

"Twenty-four-year-old Vikas Nayak jumped from the passenger train and suffered injuries on one of his legs. He is in hospital," the official said.
