BJP Firm, Threatens to Continue Parliament Disruption

New Delhi, Nov 23 (IANS): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Wednesday threatened to disrupt parliament till the government agrees to debate "burning issues" of price rise, corruption and black money.

"Our demands are not illegal. Rules allow adjournment motions in the houses to pave way for discussion by voting. If the government doesn't want the discussion, it should be held responsible for the disruptions (of parliament)," BJP's S.S. Ahluwalia told reporters.

Questioning the government's reluctance, Ahluwalia said the BJP and other National Democratic Alliance (NDA) parties would continue to press for adjournment motions under rules that entail voting.

The stand-off between the government and the opposition has created crisis with both houses unable to function on the first two days of the winter session that began Tuesday.
