Puttur, Dec 7: The policemen of Uppinangady station have reportedly taken into custody four persons from Nelyady and Kokkada, for their alleged involvement with the murder of Rakha (22), resident of Tota Darkhastu in Nelyady village in the taluk. Rekha’s brother, Vasappa, had identified the body on the basis of the sari. A ration card and footwear used by men were found by the side of the mortal remains.

Rekha, daughter of Podiya Mugera, had gone missing about a month back. Her body parts were found scattered in decomposed state on November 19 in the forest region near Kokkada. After pressure was brought by the locals on the police to investigate the case from the angle of murder, the policemen had taken into custody four persons, and released them after coming to the conclusion that there was no basis to consider this as a murder case.

After gathering information that the lady had alleged illicit relationship with a local, and that this man had hatched a plan as per which he took her into forest area, raped her along with his friends, before killing and disposing her body in the forest, the policemen took a fresh look at the case.

Reportedly, all the four persons involved have now confessed to the crime. However, when questioned, station house officer of Uppinangady, G T Dasari, did not confirm the arrests. He however, said that matter is under investigation.
