Kadri Sangeetha Saurabha 2024 inaugurated to mark 75th Jayanthi of Padmashree Dr Kadri Gopalnath

Mangaluru, Dec 7: Kadri Sangeetha Saurabha 2024, a musical festival commemorating the 75th birth anniversary of the legendary Padmashree Dr Kadri Gopalnath, was inaugurated on Saturday, December 7, at Dr Ambedkar Bhavan. The event was organized by the Dr Kadri Gopalnath Academy for Arts.

The festival was inaugurated by Gomathi Das along with other dignitaries.

Speaking on the occasion, Gomathi Das said, “The late Kadri Gopalnath was a man of Dharma Chintana, a noble soul. This program brings back memories of the golden days spent with him. He elevated the name of Kadri to the global stage.”

Following the inauguration, Mahalingappa Mahadevappa presented Vachana Sahitya. This was followed by a vocal concert by Aneesh Bhat.

In the evening, the Kadri Gopalnath Academy for Arts will present the Lifetime Achievement Award to Mohan Veena exponent Vishwa Mohan Bhatt. A jugalbandi featuring Vishwa Mohan Bhatt and his son Salil Bhatt on Satvik Veena will be held, with tabla accompaniment by Himanshu Mahant.

The evening will also include a saxophone concert by Kadri Gopalnath’s disciple Prashant Radhakrishnan and a Hindustani vocal performance by Mahalaxmi Shenoy.

The event saw the presence of KPCC secretary Mithun Rai, vishwa hindu parishad president HK Purushottam Jogi, Mallika Kala Vrinda secretary Sudhakar Rao Pejawar, Kalkura Pratishthana president Pradeep Kumar Kalkura, former NITK Surathkal professor KS Babu Narayan, film director Vijay Kumar Kodialbail, former mayor Kadri Diwakar, and Sarojini Kadri Gopalnath, wife of the late Kadri Gopalnath.

Manikanth Kadri, son of the late Kadri Gopalnath, compered the event.
