Udupi, Dec 7: Adani Power Limited Udupi TPP, which operates 2x600 MW thermal power plant at Yellur village in the limits of Kapu Taluk, Udupi District, kick-started execution of infrastructure development works worth Rs 17 lac, in hands with its CSR wing Adani Foundation, by way of formal Bhoomi pooja in the limits of Palimar Grama Panchayat as a part of CSR activity.
The work of concreting of Hoige road of nearing 417 meters length adjoining Shambhavi riverbank in Palimar village got kickstarted with the Bhoomi pooja performing by Kishore Alva, executive director and president of Adani Group and Soumyalatha Shetty, president of Palimar Grama Panchayat in presence of members and villagers of Palimar Grama Panchayat.
Performing the Bhoomi pooja, Kishore Alva spoke and informed that considering the need for development of Hoige road, Palimar Grama Panchayat has prepared the action plan for the year 2024-25 incorporating this work and submitted to Adani Foundation, wherein Adani Foundation has considered taking up this work under the community infrastructure development initiative of CSR. Alva, further informed that Adani Foundation has completed the infrastructure development works worth Rs 1.60 cr in Palimar Grama Panchayat, fulfilling the annual action plan being submitted by GP year-on-year.
Alva also told that the then deputy commissioner has advised Udupi Power Plant to consider the GPs of Yellur, Mudarangadi, Tenka and Bada for development works under CSR. However, based on the GPs’ demand, Palimar, Belapu and Padubidri GPs were added making Adani Foundation committed to execute infrastructure development works worth Rs 22.73 cr in a phased manner. Out of Rs 22.73 cr, Adani Foundation has already delivered infrastructure development works worth nearly Rs 13 cr. This year too, Adani Foundation has earmarked Rs 17 lac to each of the 7 Grama Panchayats, solely for infrastructure development works, he added. Around Rs 1.60 cr worth infrastructure development works has been already implemented in Palimar GP and this year work worth Rs. 17 lakhs are being taken under CSR, Alva said.
Speaking on the occasion, Soumylatha Shetty, president of Palimar GP, thanked Adani Group and informed that the long-awaited demand from the villagers to develop this Hoige road, adjoining to Shambhavi riverbank is being fulfilled with the CSR of Adani Group. Applauding the CSR initiatives of Adani Foundation, she told that Adani CSR is a boon to the Grama Panchayat.
Shashidhar, Panchayat development officer, thanked Adani Foundation team for CSR grant and Panchayat members for taking initiation in developing this road. Satish Devadiga, Yogananda Kukiyan, Jayanti Kotian, Gayathri Prabhu, Sujata, Jayashree Acharya, Shivarama Poojary, Giriyappa Poojary, former Grama Panchayat president Jeetendra Futrado, Madhukara Suvarna and Ravi R Jere, AGM of Adani Power Limited and Anudeep from Adani Foundation, were present on the occasion.
