'S M Krishna was a man of higher tastes': Governor C P Radhakrishnan

Mumbai, Dec 10: Maharashtra governor C P Radhakrishnan has expressed grief over the demise of former Governor of Maharashtra and former Karnataka chief minister S M Krishna.

In a condolence message, Governor Radhakrishnan wrote:

"Former Governor of Maharashtra S M Krishna was a popular figure in the politics of Karnataka and the country. Starting his career as a professor of law, S M Krishna got elected to parliament from the Praja socialist party of Barrister Nath Pai.

"In his long political journey, Krishna held various positions such as the Speaker of Karnataka Legislative Assembly, chief minister of Karnataka, Governor of Maharashtra and union minister of external affairs. S M Krishna was a man of higher tastes who took keen interest in literature, tennis and classical music. He had organized classical music programs in Maharashtra Raj Bhavan. He upheld the dignity of the post of Governor. In his demise, we have lost an erudite and cultured leader. I pay homage to the memory of late S M Krishna and convey my heartfelt condolences to the members of the bereaved family."
