Man kills woman over marriage pressure, keeps body in fridge for 8 months in Madhya Pradesh

Daijiworld Media Release - Dewas

Dewas, Jan 11: In a shocking incident, a man allegedly murdered his live-in partner after being pressured for marriage and concealed her body in a refrigerator for nearly eight months. The decomposed body of Pinky Prajapati, in her 30s, was found by the landlord of the rented house in Dewas on Friday. She had been strangled, and her hands were bound with a noose around her neck.

The accused, Sanjay Patidar, a resident of Ujjain, had been in a live-in relationship with Pinky for the last five years. According to the police, Patidar killed her around June 2024, possibly with the help of a friend, after she persistently demanded marriage.

The body remained hidden in the fridge of a house rented by Patidar from June 2023. The crime was exposed when neighbours reported a foul odor emanating from the house, prompting the landlord to check the premises. The refrigerator, which had been unplugged recently, revealed the grim discovery of the woman's body.

Authorities suspect the victim was murdered months ago and kept in the fridge until the smell led to the revelation. This chilling case bears similarities to the high-profile Shraddha Walkar murder in Delhi, where the accused, Aaftab Amin Poonawala, murdered his partner and dismembered her body.

The police have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death of Pinky Prajapati.
