Noida, Apr 5: In a shocking incident, a 55-year-old man allegedly bludgeoned his wife to death with a hammer at their residence in Noida’s upscale Sector 15 on Friday afternoon, before walking over two kilometres to the police station to confess to the crime, police said.
The accused, Noor-ul-lah Haider, a computer engineering graduate, is said to have suspected his wife, Asma Khan (42), of having an extramarital affair. The couple, who had been fighting for several days, got into a heated argument that allegedly turned fatal.

Police said that following a night-long quarrel, Haider locked the bedroom door around noon and muffled Asma’s screams with a pillow before repeatedly striking her on the head with a hammer until she died.
Asma, a civil engineer employed with a private firm in Sector 62, lived with Haider and their two children — 19-year-old Samad, a BTech student at Amity University, and 12-year-old Inaya — in a two-storey home.
According to family members, the situation escalated early Friday morning. Asma had called her sister around 5 am, requesting help. Family members arrived and attempted to mediate between the couple for nearly five hours. While most relatives left by 11 am, Asma’s mother stayed back to calm the atmosphere.
“Once the relatives left, Asma and Haider went to their room. That’s when the door was locked and the horrific act took place,” said Nadeem, Asma’s brother-in-law.
Haider later walked to Sector 20 police station and surrendered. He reportedly showed no remorse while admitting to the crime.
Phase 1 Police Station SHO Amit Kumar Maan confirmed that a case under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has been registered. The body has been sent for autopsy and the hammer used in the crime has been recovered.
Additional DCP Noida, Sumit Shukla, said the accused confessed to killing his wife over suspicion and that further investigation is underway. Statements from family members and other witnesses are being recorded.
