Speeding car rams divider on sea link, three injured; driver was drunk

Mumbai, Apr 6: A 30-year-old businessman and his two friends sustained injuries after their speeding car rammed into a divider on the Bandra Worli Sea Link in the early hours of Sunday. Police said the driver was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the accident.

The mishap occurred around 1.45 am while the trio was returning to Ghatkopar from Haji Ali. According to police, the businessman, who resides in Ghatkopar, was driving the car accompanied by his two friends, aged 32 and 47.

While driving on the sea link, the businessman reportedly lost control of the vehicle, which then crashed into a divider. All three occupants of the vehicle were injured in the incident.

Worli police rushed to the spot upon receiving information and shifted the injured to a hospital. A medical examination later confirmed that the driver and his friends were under the influence of alcohol.

Police have registered a case against the businessman under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the Motor Vehicles Act. Further investigation is underway.
