Gurugram ‘Operation Akraman’ : Drugs, liquor seized

Gurugram, Apr 6: In a decisive move to dismantle illegal operations, including the trafficking of drugs and illicit liquor, Gurugram Police conducted a major crackdown dubbed 'Operation Akraman' on Sunday.

A police spokesperson announced that the intensive operation resulted in the registration of 71 First Information Reports (FIRs) and the apprehension of 118 individuals within the preceding 24 hours across the district. Among those detained were 48 proclaimed offenders who had been evading the law.

The spokesperson elaborated that 'Operation Akraman' was executed under the direct orders of the Director General of Police (DGP) of Haryana. A substantial force comprising 214 teams and 975 police personnel was deployed across the city, enabling the arrest of a significant number of individuals suspected or confirmed to be involved in a wide range of criminal activities.

Detailing the seizures made during the operation, the police reported the recovery of a substantial quantity of illegal liquor, including 1013.5 bottles of country liquor, 150.25 bottles of English liquor, and 98 bottles of beer. Additionally, authorities confiscated 478 grams of ganja, nine grams of MDMA, one CNG auto-rickshaw, one car, 10 iPhones, one laptop, and approximately ?25,000 in cash from the apprehended individuals.

"Furthermore, 14 traffic challans were issued to vehicles with black films, 13 challans for the use of mobile phones while driving, and a significant 189 challans for driving in the wrong lane," the spokesperson added.

The police teams also achieved success in apprehending two individuals wanted in connection with a murder case, each carrying a reward of ?20,000 for their capture. Two accused individuals involved in fraud, two in a burglary case, and three in vehicle theft were also taken into custody. In addition, the operation led to the location of two missing persons.

"Gurugram Police consistently undertakes effective action through special campaigns to tighten the net around criminals and curb criminal activities. Such campaigns will be a continuing feature in our efforts to maintain law and order," stated Vikas Kumar Arora, Commissioner of Gurugram Police.

Commissioner Arora urged the public to consistently abide by the law and appealed to citizens to promptly share any information regarding crimes or criminals with the police through any available channel.
