Mumbai, Apr 6: Former chief minister and union minister Dr M Veerappa Moily was conferred the prestigious ‘Devaadiga Kulashreshtha’ title at the grand centenary celebration of the Devadiga Sangha Mumbai.

This significant event, held at the Shri Radhabai Thimmappa Bhandari Sabha Hall in Kurla East on Sunday evening, drew a packed house, reflecting the strength and unity of the Devadiga community.

Maharashtra’s minister for tourism, skill development, and entrepreneurship Mangal Lodha, who was the chief guest at the event, shared his thoughts on the community’s extraordinary success.

“For a community to have produced such distinguished individuals is a matter of great pride. While organising events like this may not be difficult, filling a venue with such a large gathering is truly a challenge. However, today, this hall is overflowing, and that’s a testament to the grace of Panjurli,” Lodha said.

He continued, “When divine grace is present in one's life, joy follows. People in Mumbai are always full of happiness, and it’s no surprise. Today, by honouring Veerappa Moily, you have raised the prestige of the Devadiga community even higher.”

The centenary celebrations saw the presence of several distinguished dignitaries, including Ikkal Harish Shetty, president of the Global Bunts' Associations Union, Ravi S Shetty, chairman and managing director of Sai Palace Group of Hotels, and Tonse Jayakrishna A Shetty, founder of the Jayshrikrishna Parisar Premi Samiti.
