Anakapalli, Apr 13: A devastating fire broke out at a firecracker manufacturing unit in Andhra Pradesh’s Anakapalli district on Sunday, claiming the lives of eight people, including two women, and injuring seven others.
The blaze, which erupted under yet-to-be-determined circumstances, sent shockwaves across the state. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu expressed deep sorrow over the loss of lives and issued urgent directives to ensure the best possible medical attention for the injured.
State Home Minister V. Anitha, confirming the casualties, said, “Eight individuals, including two women, lost their lives in this tragic fire. Seven others sustained injuries and are currently being shifted to nearby hospitals for treatment. More details will emerge as the investigation progresses.”

The Chief Minister, in an official statement, instructed Minister Anitha and local district authorities to personally oversee the relief operations and guarantee high-quality medical care for the injured victims.
Emergency response teams and fire services rushed to the scene to douse the flames and assist with rescue operations. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, and an inquiry is expected to follow.
The incident has raised renewed concerns over safety protocols in the firecracker industry, especially ahead of the festive season when production typically ramps up.
