Mangaluru, Apr 16: In view of the large-scale protest scheduled at Kannur on April 18 against the Central Government’s Waqf Amendment Bill, the joint director of the district industrial centre has issued a traffic diversion order to manage the anticipated congestion along the national highway.

Over 50,000 participants are expected to gather for the protest, and heavy traffic congestion is likely along the Padil–Farangipete and Farangipete–Padil stretches. To ease the situation, lorries, tankers, and goods vehicles will be diverted from 12 pm to 9 pm on the day of the protest.

Diversion Routes:

Vehicles heading towards Udupi: Rerouted via BC Road – Polali – Kalpane – Neermarga – Baiturli – Kulshekar – Nanthoor.

Vehicles from Mangaluru to BC Road: Diverted via Pumpwell – Thokkottu – Derlakatte – Boliyar – Melkar. Alternatively, they may take the Nanthoor – Neermarga – Polali route to reach BC Road.

Vehicles from KPT (Kadri Park area): Diverted via Pacchanady – Bondel – Kavoor – Bajpe – Kaikamba – Moodbidri.

Vehicles from Mulky: To proceed via Kinnigoli – Moodbidri – Siddakatte – BC Road.

Vehicles from Udupi: To take the Udupi – Karkala – Moodbidri – Siddakatte – Bantwal route.

City police comissioner Anupam Agarwal has urged commuters to cooperate and use the alternative routes during the protest hours to avoid delays and traffic snarls.
