Gurugram, Apr 18: In a significant breakthrough in the fight against narcotics, Gurugram Police have arrested two Delhi-based drug suppliers, cracking over 196 ganja recovery cases linked to a major seizure made last month. The accused, identified as Mohammad Arif alias Bittu and Abdul Samad, were arrested from Daryaganj, Delhi, on Wednesday.
According to police, the arrests are linked to a major recovery made on March 5, when a Hyundai Verna car was found abandoned in Baluda village in Sohna. Inside the vehicle, police discovered over 196 kg of ganja, packed in small packets. The estimated value of the illegal consignment stands at a whopping Rs 50 lac.

A case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act had been registered at Police Station City Sohna. Subsequent investigation led to the identification and arrest of the accused, who confessed to having brought the ganja from Visakhapatnam for distribution across the NCR region.
“Usually, smugglers supply ganja to addicted individuals in small packets. With this major seizure, Gurugram Police have dealt a strong blow to the narcotics network operating in the region,” said police spokesperson Sandeep Kumar. He added that further interrogation is underway to uncover the entire nexus and track down accomplices.
In a separate operation, Gurugram Police also arrested a man with illegal firearms from the Sector-65 area of the city on Thursday. The accused, identified as Bopal from Tigra village, was found in possession of two country-made pistols and 31 live cartridges.
During interrogation, the accused revealed that he had procured the weapons due to a family dispute. A case under the Arms Act has been registered at the Sector-65 Police Station.
Both operations underscore Gurugram Police’s intensified crackdown on criminal activities and efforts to ensure the safety and security of residents.
