Media Release

Mumbai, Apr 22: At a glittering ceremony held at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Mhalunge-Balewadi, Pune, on April 18, accomplished cricketer Jemimah Rodrigues was awarded the prestigious Shiv Chhatrapati State Sports Award for 2023-24. This Maharashtra state's highest sporting honor was presented by the Maharashtra governor CP Radhakrishnan.

It was at this very same complex 15 years ago, that Jemimah was selected to represent Maharashtra in hockey for the Under-19 hockey team, as a nine-year-old.

Later, choosing cricket over hockey, Jemimah Rodrigues made her Women's T20 International (WT20I) debut for India against South Africa on February 13, 2018. She also participated in the 2018 T20 World Cup.

Ever since, the talented youngster has played 107 Women's T20 Internationals, 41 women's one day internationals and 3 Women's Test matches.

She has been an integral part of the Asian Games and Asia Cup winning team of 2022.

"I am overwhelmed with gratitude. I am very grateful to Lord Jesus Christ for getting this award," says the sprightly Jemimah Rodrigues who loves playing the guitar, on winning the coveted award.
