Bengaluru, Apr 27: Following the central government’s exemption order for long-term visas (LTVs), around 88 Pakistani nationals residing in Karnataka, who were facing deportation, have been relieved from the crisis. Out of 108 Pakistani citizens living in the state, nearly 88 individuals are now free from the threat of deportation.
After the massacre of tourists in Pahalgam, Kashmir, the Central Government had instructed for the deportation of Pakistani citizens and had cancelled all types of visas issued to them. However, on Friday, the government issued an order granting an exemption specifically for long-term visas (LTVs).

As a result, Pakistani nationals residing in Bengaluru, Bhatkal of Uttara Kannada district, Mysuru, Mangaluru, Dharwad, and other areas under LTVs have seen an end to their anxiety, sources said.
Several families in Karnataka have maintained marital ties with Pakistan for decades. Those who have established marital relationships have obtained LTVs. Consequently, during the present tense situation, they have been spared from deportation.
According to legal provisions, the Indian government issues long-term visas to individuals from that country, which are subject to periodic renewal. Action can only be taken if these individuals are found involved in illegal activities, sources added.
