London, Jun 13: Prominent industrialist and businessman Sunjay Kapur, former husband of Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor, passed away in the United Kingdom after suffering a heart attack while playing polo. He was 53.

According to reports, Kapur collapsed during a polo match, a sport he was known to be extremely fond of. While initial assumptions pointed to a sudden cardiac arrest, sources close to the family revealed that he had accidentally swallowed a bee mid-match, which is believed to have triggered the fatal reaction. Business consultant Suhel Seth confirmed the development to the media.

Sunjay Kapur, the chairman of Sona Comstar, was a well-known face in India’s corporate and social circles. His personal life often made headlines, particularly during and after his marriage to actress Karisma Kapoor, with whom he had two children. The couple eventually divorced in 2016 after a long-drawn legal battle. Kapur later married Priya Sachdev, who was earlier married to hotelier Vikram Chatwal.

His unexpected demise has sent shockwaves across the country’s business and celebrity communities. Friends, colleagues, and public personalities took to social media to express their condolences, remembering him as a man with an enduring passion for polo and a sharp business mind.
