London, Jun 13: Sanjay Kapoor (53), former husband of Bollywood actress Karisma Kapoor, passed away on Thursday after suffering a heart attack while playing polo in England.

A businessman and chairman of the Sona Group, Sanjay was participating in a polo tournament when the tragic incident occurred. Some eyewitnesses claimed he may have accidentally swallowed a bee during the game, which could have triggered the heart attack.

Sanjay had earlier posted condolences on social media for the victims of the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad, just hours before his own sudden demise.

He married Karisma Kapoor in 2003 and the couple has a son and a daughter. They divorced in 2016. Later, Sanjay married model and entrepreneur Priya Sachdev, with whom he has a son.

Following the news of his death, Karisma’s sister Kareena Kapoor and her husband Saif Ali Khan reportedly visited Karisma’s residence to be with her during the difficult time.
