Los Angeles, Jul 1: Fans of fashion and fierce comebacks have reason to rejoice, as filming has officially begun for the highly anticipated sequel to the cult-classic The Devil Wears Prada. Hollywood icons Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci will be reprising their iconic roles in The Devil Wears Prada 2, which promises to deliver another dose of style, sass, and boardroom battles.
In an exciting twist, celebrated actor-director Kenneth Branagh has joined the cast as the husband of the formidable Miranda Priestly (played by Streep), the icy editor-in-chief of Runway magazine, according to Variety.

The announcement was confirmed by Disney’s 20th Century Studios on Instagram, which shared a mysterious teaser image featuring two red high heels – a nod to the franchise’s chic and devilish flair.
Based on Lauren Weisberger’s bestselling 2004 novel, the original 2006 film chronicled the journey of Andy Sachs (Hathaway), a young journalist who lands a coveted job at a top fashion magazine, only to find herself navigating the whims of her ruthless boss, Miranda Priestly – a character widely believed to be inspired by Vogue’s longtime editor Anna Wintour.
In a timely coincidence, Wintour recently announced her decision to step down as editor-in-chief of American Vogue after 37 years, adding fresh relevance to the film’s publishing-world backdrop.
While full plot details for the sequel remain under wraps, sources reveal that the story will follow Miranda Priestly as she struggles to stay relevant in an era where traditional magazine publishing is on the decline. She is said to clash with her former assistant Emily Charlton (Blunt), now a powerful executive at a luxury conglomerate that controls crucial advertising revenue.
Anne Hathaway’s character Andy Sachs, who quit Runway at the end of the first film, is expected to return in an as-yet-undisclosed role.
Director David Frankel and screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna, the duo behind the original film’s success, are also back to helm the sequel, raising expectations among loyal fans and film critics alike.
The Devil Wears Prada 2 is slated for a global theatrical release on May 1, 2026, and is already being hailed as one of the most awaited films of the decade.
