Moga, Jul 17: In a shocking case of familial violence stemming from a long-standing property dispute, a man allegedly ran over his elder brother, sister-in-law, and niece with his car in Gatti Jattan village near Dharamkot in Punjab’s Moga district.

The horrifying incident, which took place outside the victim’s residence, was captured on CCTV and has since gone viral on social media, drawing widespread condemnation.

According to police sources, Gurwinder Singh was standing with his wife and daughter at the entrance of their home when his younger brother Dilbag Singh arrived in a car, accompanied by his own wife. After dropping her off, Dilbag allegedly accelerated the vehicle and rammed into the trio.

All three sustained serious injuries and were immediately shifted to a private hospital in Moga by neighbours who heard their cries for help.

Gurwinder Singh told police that tensions between the brothers had intensified after their aged parents, who were earlier staying with Dilbag, were recently evicted and moved in with him. He also alleged that Dilbag had been threatening him over the past few weeks, and the attack appeared to be a culmination of that hostility.

DSP Ramandeep Singh confirmed that a case has been registered against Dilbag Singh and his wife based on Gurwinder’s statement. While the investigation is ongoing, police said the accused couple is currently absconding.

Authorities have assured that efforts are underway to trace the suspects and bring them to justice.
