Emma Stone says motherhood has simplified everything, calls daughter her life’s greatest gift

Los Angeles, Aug 12: Hollywood star Emma Stone is opening up about the deep impact motherhood has had on her life, calling her 4-year-old daughter Louise Jean “the greatest gift” she’s ever received.

In a recent conversation with Vogue, the Oscar-winning actress spoke candidly about raising her daughter with husband Dave McCary, whom she married in 2020. Stone, now 36, described motherhood as a transformative force.

“There’s nothing I feel luckier about. She’s the greatest gift of my life, for sure,” she said.

A Shift in Perspective

The Poor Things actress also revealed that becoming a mother has changed the way she approaches her work. She now weighs her roles more carefully, factoring in how much time they would take her away from her daughter.

“It’s streamlined everything,” Stone explained. “It’s a clichéd thing to say, but it changes everything. And simplifies everything.”

When asked if parenthood has influenced her emotional depth as an actor, she responded with honesty:

“I do think it unlocks different things. I don’t know if it’s specifically that, but I feel everything I could possibly feel, because everything has exploded.”

A Private But Deeply Felt Role

While Emma Stone and Dave McCary keep a low profile as a family, the actress hasn’t shied away from expressing how central her daughter is to her life. During last year’s Oscars, after winning Best Actress for her role in Poor Things, Stone gave a heartfelt shout-out to her family, ending with a touching tribute to her daughter, who was about to turn 3 at the time.

“Most importantly, my daughter, who's gonna be 3 in three days and has turned our lives technicolor,” she said in her acceptance speech.

She closed her speech with a line from friend Taylor Swift’s song Bigger Than the Whole Sky:

“I love you bigger than the whole sky, my girl.”

Despite her superstar status, Stone continues to prioritize family above all, describing motherhood not just as a role — but as the emotional center of her world.
