Bantwal, Aug 31: The farming community of Bantwal is set to mark a significant milestone with the inauguration of a newly constructed Krishika Samaja Bhavana (Farmers’ Community Hall) at B C Road on Monday, September 1. The event is being organised under the auspices of the Bantwal Taluk Krishika Samaja.
Addressing a press conference at the B C Road Press Club, Padmaraj Ballal, president of the Krishika Samaja, announced that agriculture minister N Cheluvarayaswamy will formally inaugurate the new facility.
He added, “This is a proud moment for the farming community. The new building will serve as a hub for farmer-related programmes and initiatives in the taluk.”
Several dignitaries are expected to grace the occasion, including Legislative Assembly Speaker U T Khader, Dakshina Kannada district in-charge minister Dinesh Gundu Rao, Bantwal MLA Rajesh Naik, other MLAs, former ministers, and local elected representatives.
Following the inauguration, a formal ceremony will be held at the Dr B R Ambedkar Bhavana in BC Road. This event will also recognise the achievements of local farmers and agricultural volunteers.
Women farmers who emerged as winners in the district-level paddy cultivation competition, held by the Department of Agriculture, will be felicitated on the occasion. Additionally, a special programme will honour Krishi Sakhis (community agriculture volunteers) and Pashu Sakhis (livestock caretaking facilitators) from across the taluk for their contributions to grassroots agricultural development.
“This event not only marks the opening of a building but also celebrates the spirit of community farming and the strength of women in agriculture,” Ballal said.
Joining Padmaraj Ballal at the press briefing were Padmanabha Rai, president of the Building Committee; Umer B, vice president; Ramanath Vittal, secretary; and Albert Menezes, treasurer.
The inauguration and award ceremony are expected to draw large participation from farmers, agricultural workers, local leaders, and community stakeholders — all united in a common cause to strengthen rural infrastructure and honour local agricultural excellence.
