Hassan: Trekking Tragedy - Body of Missing Student Found, Several Booked for Violation

Hassan, Feb 7: The body of Navin Kumar (21), student of an engineering college from Bangalore, who had drowned during the visit by him and his friends for trekking in Devaragundi protected forest area in Shiradi Ghat on Sunday, has been recovered. Expert divers retrieved his body after lot of efforts.

In the meantime, 13 students and eight software engineers, who were arrested by the forest depart officials for illegally entering the protected forest without permission, were released on bail, after they produced in the court on Monday.

After Navin, student of BMS Engineering College, Basavanagudi, Bangalore, drowned while swimming near Kuttichatta falls, his fellow students had returned to Sakleshpur and informed forest officials. On Sunday, a 70-member strong team of divers had tried to recover Navin’s body, but to no avail. As water in the area is very deep and too cold, the divers had found it very hard to reach to the depths of water to search for body. On Monday, however, they succeeded in achieving their goal.
