Bengaluru, Sept 6: In a heart-wrenching turn of events, Kannada actress and politician Bhavana Ramanna has welcomed twins through IVF treatment, but the moment of joy turned tragic after one of the babies passed away shortly after birth.
The actress, in her 40s, who has chosen to embrace single motherhood, was reportedly in her seventh month of pregnancy when doctors identified health complications in one of the foetuses. On medical advice, she underwent a preterm delivery in the eighth month.

While one baby could not be saved despite the doctors’ best efforts, the surviving baby girl is said to be in stable condition, and Bhavana herself is recovering well.
Known for her acclaimed roles in Kannada cinema and active public life, Bhavana had not married but had long expressed a desire to become a mother. Through In Vitro Fertilisation, she chose to bring children into her life on her own terms, a move widely seen as courageous and inspiring.
Sources close to the family revealed that Bhavana had been eagerly awaiting the arrival of her twins. “She was overjoyed at the thought of becoming a mother. Although she’s devastated by the loss of one child, she’s staying strong for her daughter,” said a close associate.
Following the delivery, both Bhavana and her newborn were admitted to a private hospital in Bengaluru for observation. Doctors have confirmed that the baby girl is responding well to care, and the actress is being closely monitored during her recovery.
Bhavana has not issued an official statement, but well-wishers and fans have poured in messages of support and strength on social media.
The incident has drawn attention to the emotional and physical challenges of motherhood through assisted reproductive methods, especially in cases of multiple births and high-risk pregnancies.
