New Delhi, Sep 8: India’s unemployment rate stands at just 2 per cent, the lowest among G20 nations, according to World Economic Forum’s ‘The Future of Jobs Report 2025’, said Union Labour & Employment Minister Mansukh Mandaviya on Monday. He attributed this to India’s robust economic growth and a series of targeted government schemes focused on employment and youth development.
Speaking at a signing ceremony for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Ministry of Labour & Employment and two partners — Mentor Together and Quikr — Mandaviya emphasized how India is strengthening its job ecosystem through collaboration, digital platforms, and skill development.

At the heart of these efforts is the National Career Service (NCS) Portal, which Mandaviya described as transforming into a “one-stop solution” for all employment-related services. The platform currently boasts:
• 52 lakh registered employers
• 5.79 crore job seekers
• Over 7.22 crore mobilised vacancies
• More than 44 lakh active job listings
Mandaviya also highlighted recent strategic partnerships with companies such as Amazon and Swiggy, which have helped mobilise around five lakh job vacancies in the past year alone.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment to India’s youth, Mandaviya cited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s announcement of five flagship schemes during the start of his third term — a package worth Rs 2 lakh crore designed to support 4.1 crore young Indians through employment and skilling initiatives.
A major component of this package is the Pradhan Mantri Viksit Bharat Rozgar Yojana (PM-VBRY), which was launched in August 2025 with an outlay of Rs 99,446 crore. The scheme targets the creation of 3.5 crore jobs over two years, with 1.92 crore roles for first-time job entrants.
As part of Monday’s event, the MoU with Mentor Together aims to deliver structured, personalised career mentoring to at least two lakh youth in its first year — half from NCS and half from PM-VBRY. The initiative will focus on district and city-level outreach, with guidance from over 24,000 trained mentors, especially for first-time job seekers from underserved communities.
The renewed MoU with Quikr is set to further enhance the employment pipeline by integrating over 1,200 daily job listings from more than 1,200 cities into the NCS portal. The move is expected to expand real-time job access across both urban and rural India, particularly helping job seekers in remote and underserved regions.
Mandaviya concluded by stating that these partnerships represent a holistic approach to job creation, combining technology, mentoring, and private sector collaboration to build an inclusive and future-ready workforce.
