Utah, Sep 17: Legendary Hollywood actor and director Robert Redford passed away peacefully in his sleep at the age of 89 on September 16, 2025, at his mountain home in Utah. His publicist Cindi Berger confirmed the news, stating that the family has requested privacy.
Redford, who earned global acclaim through films like Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and Ordinary People, is survived by his wife Sibylle Szaggars, daughters Shauna and Amy, and seven grandchildren.
He was earlier married to historian Lola Van Wagenen, with whom he had four children. Their firstborn, Scott, died in 1959, and their son David James passed away in 2020.
Redford leaves behind a towering cinematic legacy that defined generations of film lovers.
