Mumbai, Sep 18: The latest episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati season 17 turned into a moment of inspiration for millions across the country, as Ayushi, a visually impaired IAS officer serving as a Sub-Divisional Magistrate, walked away with Rs 25 lac.
Facing host Amitabh Bachchan on the hot seat, Ayushi impressed viewers with her sharp knowledge and calm presence as she answered a string of challenging general knowledge questions. She eventually chose to quit after stumbling on the Rs 50 lac question, which asked about the rock band that wrote the song Contact Lost in honour of the Columbia astronauts. The correct answer was Deep Purple, a band admired by Indian-born astronaut Kalpana Chawla, who carried their albums on her final mission.
Speaking on her motivation to participate in KBC, Ayushi said, “It's a big opportunity, especially in the field of education. I'm not the only physically challenged person, but there are so many who are looking for that support. Even if I can inspire some of them, I will feel grateful.”
Her mother, who accompanied her on the show, recalled the difficult journey. She shared that Ayushi, who lost her vision completely after being able to see only faint blurry light as a child, never gave up on her dreams. “She has always been enthusiastic, spirited, and determined to achieve something in life,” she said with pride.
Ayushi’s story drew heartfelt applause from the studio audience and admiration across social media, with many hailing her as a true example of courage and perseverance.
