New Delhi, Sep 24: A heart-warming off-stage moment between Bollywood icons Shah Rukh Khan and Rani Mukerji stole the spotlight at the 71st National Film Awards ceremony in Delhi on Tuesday.

In a video that has gone viral, Shah Rukh struggled to untangle his newly-won National Award medal before Rani stepped in, deftly helping him wear it. Both stars then broke into delighted smiles as Rani turned her selfie camera toward him to admire the medal, drawing cheers from fans online.

Social media brimmed with affectionate reactions. “They’re acting like kids—earning a medal at any age feels special,” one fan wrote, while another gushed, “Nursery babies fixing their school ID cards!” Many called the moment “pure joy wrapped in nostalgia,” celebrating the duo’s long-time friendship.

This year marked the first National Award win for both actors. Shah Rukh received Best Actor for Jawan, while Rani was named Best Actress for Mrs Chatterjee vs Norway. Actor Vikrant Massey, seated beside them, shared the Best Actor award with Shah Rukh for 12th Fail.

Malayalam superstar Mohanlal was honoured with the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his decades-long contribution to Indian cinema.

Shah Rukh and Rani, beloved for classics like Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham, and Veer-Zaara, proved once again that their off-screen camaraderie is as endearing as their on-screen chemistry.
