Bengaluru police halt Pawan Kalyan fans’ unauthorised celebration

Bengaluru, Sep 25: Bengaluru Police on Wednesday called off an unauthorised event organised by fans of Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister and Telugu superstar Pawan Kalyan, held ahead of the release of his latest film They Call Him OG.

The Bangalore PK Fans Association had erected a large stage and DJ setup outside Sandhya Theatre in Madiwala without police permission. Tension flared briefly when members of the Karnataka Rakshana Vedike (KRV) arrived and raised objections on language grounds. Police intervened swiftly, dismantled the arrangements and restored order.

Some moviegoers who came to watch the film were seen carrying plastic swords to pose before the giant cutout of the actor. Police seized the swords to prevent any untoward incident.

Meanwhile, the Telangana High Court on Wednesday issued an interim suspension of the state government’s memo permitting a special premiere show and a hike in ticket prices for They Call Him OG, which also stars Emraan Hashmi and Priyanka Mohan.
