India’s first Hindi film on menopause ‘Me No Pause Me Play’ set for November release

Media Release

Mumbai, Oct 18: In a landmark moment for Indian cinema, Digifilming and Mirrro Films unveiled the first poster of Me No Pause Me Play on World Menopause Day, heralding the release of the country’s first Hindi feature film on menopause. The film, based on Manoj Kumar Sharma’s acclaimed book of the same name, is set to hit theatres on November 28, 2025, and aims to bring an often-silenced subject into the mainstream conversation.

Menopause, a natural yet rarely discussed phase in a woman’s life, impacts hormones, mental well-being, confidence, and identity. While Indian society has only recently begun addressing menstruation, menopause continues to be a taboo. Through this cinematic venture, the makers seek to normalize dialogue, challenge stereotypes, and foster empathy and understanding for women undergoing this transition.

The film is adapted from Sharma’s widely appreciated book, with the author also serving as writer and producer. Sharma’s involvement ensures authenticity and depth, blending storytelling with social awareness to create meaningful impact.

Directed by Samar K Mukherjee, the film features a stellar ensemble cast including Kamya Punjabi, Deepshikha Nagpal, Manoj Kumar Sharma, Sudha Chandran, Amiee Misobbah, Karan Chhabra, and Aman Verma. Each actor portrays characters that embody strength, acceptance, and transformation.

Lead actress Kamya Punjabi said, “In our society, people have slowly started talking about menstruation, but menopause is still treated like a secret. It’s something every woman experiences, yet we’re expected to stay silent about it. Me No Pause Me Play gives that silence a voice — it’s about acceptance, courage, and reminding every woman that this phase doesn’t define her end, but a new beginning.”

The screenplay and dialogues have been penned by Shakeel Qureshi and Manoj Kumar Sharma, with cinematography by Akram Khan. The film promises to spark conversations, replace hesitation with hope, and transform silence into strength for women across the nation.

With its November 28 release, Me No Pause Me Play is poised to become a defining moment in women-centric cinema, highlighting empathy, awareness, and acceptance for a chapter in life often left unspoken.
