Singer-songwriter King reveals the secret behind his growth: “I Only Enter Rooms Bigger Than Me”

Mumbai, Oct 23: Popular singer-songwriter King, the voice behind viral hits like “Maan Meri Jaan,” “Tu Aake Dekhle,” and “Tu Jaana Na Piya,” has opened up about his approach to success, creativity, and constant self-growth.

During promotions for the newly released streaming reality show ‘I-Popstar’, where he serves as a mentor, King shared with reporters how surrounding himself with people more accomplished than him has been a key part of his journey.

“When you get a chance to enter rooms that are ten times bigger than your personality, you learn. When you’re around people who are bigger than you, your mind subconsciously starts pushing itself to match their level. That’s how I grow,” King said.

He added that he avoids environments where he feels he has nothing new to gain:

“I don’t go to useless rooms. I won’t go where I’m the biggest person there — where’s the growth in that? I prefer being in rooms full of people I can learn from. That’s where evolution happens.”

The 26-year-old artist, known for blending emotional lyricism with modern pop production, recently released his EP ‘Shayad Koi Na Sune’ — a deeply introspective follow-up to his 2023 project ‘Shayad Woh Sune’.

Reflecting on the new record, King explained that it wasn’t designed just to chase charts or playlists:

“With ‘Shayad Koi Na Sune,’ I didn’t want to make something that just fills playlists or climbs charts. I wanted to create something that stays with you when nobody’s around,” he said.

King described the songs as raw, unfiltered reflections of his emotions — a personal collection of quiet confessions.

“They’re messy truths about feeling unseen, about growing when no one’s watching. I called it ‘Shayad Koi Na Sune’ because maybe no one will hear it, and that’s okay. If even one person feels a little less alone after listening, that’s enough for me.”

With his authenticity-driven philosophy and refusal to settle for comfort zones, King continues to stand out as one of India’s most introspective and evolving voices in contemporary pop music.
