Hubballi, Oct 24: Passengers travelling on the Mangaluru–Bengaluru and Karwar routes are advised to take note: the South Western Railway has announced an extension of temporary train cancellations owing to ongoing electrification work between Sakleshpura and Subrahmanya Road stations.
Railway officials confirmed that from November 2 to December 15, a daily four-hour line block will be imposed to facilitate the crucial infrastructure work. Consequently, several express services operating on this stretch will remain cancelled for an extended period.

The Yeshwantpur–Mangaluru Junction Weekly Express (Train No. 16539), earlier cancelled until November 1, will now remain suspended from November 8 to December 13, while the return service, the Mangaluru Junction–Yeshwantpur Weekly Express (Train No. 16540), will be cancelled from November 9 to December 14.
Similarly, the Yeshwantpur–Mangaluru Junction Gomateshwara Tri-weekly Express (Train No. 16575), which had been suspended until October 30, will now be off the tracks from November 2 to December 14. Its counterpart, the Mangaluru Junction–Yeshvantpur Tri-weekly Express (Train No. 16576), will be cancelled between November 3 and December 15.
The Yeshwantpur–Karwar Tri-weekly Express (Train No. 16515), earlier cancelled until October 31, will now remain out of service from November 3 to December 15, and the Karwar–Yeshwantpur Tri-weekly Express (Train No. 16516), which was originally suspended until October 1, will now be cancelled from November 4 to December 16.
A senior railway official said the extended suspension was essential for ensuring safety and timely completion of the electrification project. “We request passengers to check updated schedules before planning their travel,” the official added.
