Mumbai, Nov 27: Dhanush has reflected on the lasting impact of his beloved character Kundan from Raanjhanaa, sharing why the role continues to resonate with him even more than a decade after the film’s release.
In a nostalgic Instagram post, the actor shared a series of photos and expressed how deeply connected he still feels to the character. “A walk through the memory lane where it all started. Kundan. A character that refuses to let go of me, even after more than a decade. The name Kundan still echoes in the narrow lanes of Banaras as people call out to me and I still turn and smile,” he wrote.
He added that returning to the same locations—sitting outside the same house, sipping tea at the same shop, and strolling along the banks of the Ganges—with filmmaker Aanand L. Rai, who created the character, felt like life had come full circle. “Now it’s time for Shankar. Tere Ishk Mein… FROM TOM. Har Har Mahadev,” he teased, hinting at what lies ahead.

Some of the images also feature Aanand L. Rai, marking their reunion with composer A.R. Rahman for Tere Ishq Mein. The film stars Kriti Sanon in the lead and is described as a spiritual sequel to Raanjhanaa. The trio—Rai, Dhanush and Rahman—previously collaborated on Raanjhanaa and Atrangi Re.
Kriti Sanon, too, has spoken about how long she has waited to work with Aanand L. Rai. At the film’s trailer launch, she revealed that being part of a love story directed by him had been a dream for years. “I was after him for years. Sir, I want to do a love story that is directed by you. It has always been on my wish list,” she said.
Tere Ishq Mein is scheduled for release on 28 November 2025.
