Mumbai, Dec 4: The makers of the much-awaited action drama Akhanda 2: Thaandavam, directed by Boyapati Sreenu and starring Nandamuri Balakrishna, announced on Thursday that the film’s India premiere shows have been cancelled due to technical issues.

Production house 14 Reels Plus informed fans via X, stating:

“#Akhanda2 premieres in India scheduled for today are cancelled due to technical issues. We've tried our best, but a few things are beyond our control. Sorry for the inconvenience. The overseas premieres will play as per the schedule today.”

The cancellation comes just a day before the film’s official release on December 5. The movie has already received a U/A certificate from the Censor Board, with a confirmed runtime of 166 minutes.

Buzz around the film has intensified following the release of a power-packed teaser. The teaser hints at a narrative where India’s adversaries attempt to destabilise the nation, prompting Balakrishna’s spiritually charged sadhu avatar to rise against both human enemies and sinister black-magic forces. His dialogue, “Where there is a bad, parallely, there is a God! Be brave,” has already gone viral among fans.

The sequel promises a larger-than-life cinematic experience, with director Boyapati Sreenu expanding the scale and intensity of the universe established in Akhanda. S. Thaman’s high-octane background score is expected to amplify the film’s grand action set pieces.

Produced by Raam Achanta and Gopichand Achanta under the 14 Reels Plus banner, and presented by M. Tejaswini Nandamuri, Akhanda 2: Thaandavam features Samyuktha as the female lead, Aadhi Pinisetty in a powerful role, and Harshali Malhotra in a key character. Cinematography is by C. Ramprasad and Santoshh D Detake, with editing by Tammiraju.

Despite the premiere setback in India, anticipation remains sky-high as fans gear up for Balakrishna’s return in one of his most formidable avatars.
