New Delhi, Dec 9: A special prayer meet for legendary actor Dharmendra is being organised in the national capital today by Hema Malini and her daughters, Esha Deol and Ahana Deol — days after the veteran star’s 90th birth anniversary.

The tribute ceremony will take place at the Dr Ambedkar International Centre, Janpath, from 4 pm to 6 pm on December 11. Esha’s former husband Bharat Takhtani, Ahana’s husband Vaibhav Vohra, and other close family members are also coordinating the arrangements.

This Delhi event comes after Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol organised a prayer meet for their father in Mumbai on November 27. Dharmendra’s first wife, Prakash Kaur, and their daughters, Ajeeta and Vijeta, had also attended the Mumbai ceremony, which saw several prominent celebrities — including Salman Khan, Aishwarya Rai, Madhuri Dixit, Vidya Balan, Jackie Shroff and Shabana Azmi — offering their respects.

On the same day, Hema Malini held a private puja at her Mumbai residence, attended by Mahima Chaudhry, Sunita Ahuja, Yashvardhan Ahuja and family members. However, Hema and her daughters had not attended the Mumbai prayer meet for unspecified reasons.

Dharmendra, who married Prakash Kaur in 1954 and later married Hema Malini in 1980, passed away on November 24 at the age of 89. The actor had been hospitalised earlier in the month at Breach Candy Hospital.

Marking his birth anniversary on December 8, Hema Malini wrote an emotional message on Instagram: “More than two weeks have passed since you left me heartbroken… knowing that you will always be with me in spirit.” Esha, Sunny and Bobby also shared heartfelt tributes.
