Vicky Kaushal joins Bollywood voices praising ‘Dhurandhar’, calls it “supremely engaging”

Mumbai, Dec 12: Bollywood star Vicky Kaushal has become the latest celebrity to heap praise on Dhurandhar, the Ranveer Singh–Akshaye Khanna starrer that continues to dominate conversations across the film industry. The actor took to Instagram early on Friday to share his glowing review, adding to the growing chorus of appreciation surrounding the high-voltage spy thriller.

Reposting a poster of the film featuring Ranveer Singh, Vicky applauded director Aditya Dhar for his vision and craftsmanship.

“@adityadharfilms you beauty! What a mammoth task it must be for you and your team to pull off this film with such conviction, finesse and first-rate world building… Hats off,” he wrote.

Vicky also hailed the performances of Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna and R Madhavan, describing them as “Absolute PEAK PERFORMANCES! Technically brilliant. Supremely engaging.” He concluded his note by congratulating “all the Dhurandhars involved” for delivering a compelling cinematic experience.

This admiration carries a personal connection. Vicky Kaushal earlier collaborated with director Aditya Dhar in the 2019 blockbuster Uri: The Surgical Strike, a film that elevated both their careers. Interestingly, fan theories now suggest a possible link between Dhurandhar and Uri.

In Dhurandhar, Ranveer plays Hamza, an Indian spy handpicked by intelligence chief (R Madhavan) to infiltrate the criminal syndicate of Rehman Dakait (Akshaye Khanna) in Lyari, Pakistan. The climax reveals that Hamza is actually Jaskirat Singh Rangi, a convict offered redemption through the mission. Fans quickly noted the significance of the name — in Uri, Vicky’s character mentions Captain Jaskirat Singh Rangi, Kirti Kulhari’s on-screen husband who was killed during an operation.

Over the past few days, celebrities including Hrithik Roshan, Anupam Kher, Akshay Kumar and Smriti Irani have also praised the film. While critics offered mixed reviews, audiences have overwhelmingly embraced the thriller.

About the Film

Set in Pakistan, Dhurandhar delves into espionage, covert missions and terror networks in Lyari. Alongside Ranveer Singh, the film features a powerful ensemble cast including Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Rampal and R Madhavan.

The film has had a roaring start at the box office, collecting ?177.74 crore so far, according to Sacnilk.com. Directed, written and co-produced by Aditya Dhar in association with Jyoti Deshpande and Lokesh Dhar under Jio Studios and B62 Studios, the thriller is set to return with a sequel on March 19, 2026.

As appreciation continues to pour in from fans and film fraternity alike, Dhurandhar shows no signs of slowing down at the ticket counters.
