Raiza Dhillon dominates Skeet events with twin gold at National Shooting Championships

New Delhi, Dec 13: Olympian Raiza Dhillon produced a stunning display of consistency and composure on Saturday, sweeping both the Women’s and Junior Women’s Skeet titles at the 68th National Shooting Championship Competitions (NSCC) at the Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range in Tughlaqabad.

In the Women’s Skeet final, Raiza emerged on top with a score of 56, edging past Yashasvi Rathore, who finished just one point behind to claim silver. Another Olympian, Ganemat Shekhon, secured the bronze medal after hitting 45 targets. Darshna Rathore, Risham Kaur Guron and Vanshika Tiwari completed the final standings in fourth, fifth and sixth places respectively.

The qualification round earlier in the day was tightly contested, with Yashasvi Rathore leading the field on 118. Raiza Dhillon and Ganemat Shekhon both posted scores of 116, with Raiza taking second place after a shoot-off, while Ganemat finished third. Darshna Rathore followed closely with 115, while Risham Kaur Guron and Vanshika Tiwari were tied on 114, their rankings decided by shoot-off results.

In the Women’s Skeet Team event, Rajasthan claimed the gold medal as Yashasvi Rathore, Darshna Rathore and Olympian Maheshwari Chauhan combined for an impressive total of 343. Madhya Pradesh settled for silver with a score of 328, while Punjab secured the bronze with 325.

Raiza continued her strong form in the Junior Women’s Skeet final, where she once again stood atop the podium after shooting 55. Vanshika Tiwari finished a close second with 54, while Mansi Raghuwanshi earned the bronze medal with a score of 45. Qualification leader Yashasvi Rathore placed fourth in the final, followed by Risham Kaur Guron and Sanyogita Shekhawat.

The Junior Women’s Team Skeet event saw Madhya Pradesh take the gold with a combined score of 328. Rajasthan finished narrowly behind to win silver with 326, while Punjab claimed the bronze medal with 314.

With several events still to be contested, the 68th NSCC continues to showcase high-level competition. The women’s and junior women’s 25m sports pistol finals are scheduled next, as India’s leading shooters battle for national supremacy.
