Puttur, Jan 31: Police are awaiting medical reports to intensify the investigation into the case in which a teenager died of a gunshot injury in Ramakunja village on the evening of January 24. Police sources said the medical report is crucial to ascertain whether the youth first shot his father and then turned the gun on himself, as initially suspected.

The deceased has been identified as Moksh (17), son of Vasanth Amin and Jayashree of Paade, Ramakunja village. The incident occurred at the Pade house on Saturday evening.

Initial reports suggested that Moksh attacked his father and later died by shooting himself with a gun. However, fresh information indicating that Vasanth Amin, who is critically injured, also sustained gunshot wounds has raised several doubts. Adding to the complexity of the case, the mother Jayashree has filed a complaint with the police alleging that her husband Vasanth Amin killed their son Moksh.

Police said that the medical report of the injured person and the post-mortem report of the deceased youth will play a key role in clarifying the circumstances surrounding the incident and aid further investigation.

The gun involved in the incident, which claimed the life of Moksh, is reportedly an England-made single-barrel SBBL gun. It is said to have belonged to the late Madan Seraje, a senior communist leader and the maternal uncle of Vasanth Amin.

Sources said that the late Madan Seraje, a prominent leader, had used the same gun to shoot tigers that had posed a threat to the region. It is also learnt that photographs of him hunting two tigers at the same time with the gun are still preserved at his residence. However, it remains unclear how the rare firearm came into the possession of Vasanth Amin.
