Mumbai, Feb 6: Yash Raj Films (YRF) on Friday strongly refuted allegations circulating on social media that viral reports about “missing girls” in Delhi were being used as a promotional strategy for its upcoming film Mardaani 3.

The controversy erupted after claims surfaced online suggesting a spike in missing persons cases in Delhi during the first 15 days of 2026. Several netizens alleged that the reports were deliberately amplified to generate publicity for Mardaani 3, which deals with crimes against women. The Delhi Police later stepped in, cautioning against the spread of rumours and misinformation.

Reacting to the allegations, YRF categorically denied any involvement. Speaking to ANI, a spokesperson for the production house said, “Yash Raj Films is a 50-year-old company built on the core principles of being ethical and transparent. We strongly refute the allegations being made on social media that the promotional campaign of Mardaani 3 has sensationalised such an issue. We have full faith in our authorities to bring out all the facts and truth at the right time.”

Earlier, the Delhi Police also dismissed speculation about any unusual rise in missing girls cases in the national capital. In a post on X, the police said investigations revealed that claims of a surge were being pushed through paid promotions. “Spreading panic for monetary gain will not be tolerated. Strict action will be taken against such people,” the police warned.

Delhi Police PRO Sanjay Tyagi further clarified that there has been no increase in missing persons reports compared to previous years.

Mardaani 3, directed by Abhiraj Minawala, is the third instalment in the popular franchise headlined by Rani Mukerji. The film also stars Janki Bodiwala and Mallika Prasad in key roles. As per box office figures, the film has collected Rs 26.88 crore in eight days since its release.
