Daijiworld Media Network - Beirut

Beirut, Mar 15: Overnight airstrikes in southern Lebanon killed at least four people, according to the government and state media, amid escalating tensions along the border with Israel.

Lebanon’s state-run National News Agency reported that an Israeli strike hit an apartment in a residential building in a northern district of the coastal city of Sidon, killing one person and triggering a fire in the building.

In another incident southeast of Sidon, three people were killed in an overnight strike in the village of Al-Qatrani, according to Lebanon Ministry of Public Health.

The Israel Defense Forces said it continued to target infrastructure used by Hezbollah across Lebanon. In a statement, the military said it struck several Hezbollah launch sites in Al-Qatrani, claiming the group was preparing to fire missiles from the area.

The Israeli military also said it destroyed command centres belonging to Hezbollah’s Radwan Force in Beirut.

Meanwhile, Hezbollah said on Sunday that it had targeted several Israeli troop positions in villages close to the border.
