Rakesh Bedi dismisses ‘propaganda’ tag on Dhurandhar 2, takes swipe at ‘Emergency’

Mumbai, Mar 20: Actor Rakesh Bedi has weighed in on the ongoing “propaganda” debate surrounding Dhurandhar 2: The Revenge, dismissing such labels and asserting that audience response is what truly matters.

In an interview, Bedi said he does not believe in categorising films as pro- or anti-establishment. “Everybody has the right to like or dislike a film, but I don’t think it’s right to put a film into some kind of category… The verdict is that people are loving it,” he said.

Without naming it directly, Bedi appeared to take a dig at Emergency, headlined by Kangana Ranaut. Referring to recent politically themed films, he remarked that such movies “didn’t run for even two days,” contrasting them with the success of Dhurandhar 2.

He praised the film’s scale and storytelling, saying audiences had not seen such a production mounted before.

Describing the response, Bedi said the film has triggered an unprecedented level of excitement. “This is a mad frenzy… I’ve never seen something like this in my career,” he said, adding that shows are running round the clock.

Dhurandhar: The Revenge has opened to historic numbers, reportedly becoming the first Bollywood film to cross Rs 100 crore nett in a single day.

The film continues the story set in Lyari after the death of Rehman Dakait and revolves around national security, undercover operations, and cross-border threats. Ranveer Singh plays the lead role of Hamza, navigating a high-stakes mission.
