Zeenat Aman revisits first photoshoot memory, debunks viral image

Daijiworld Media Network - Mumbai

Mumbai, Apr 6: Veteran actress Zeenat Aman took a nostalgic trip down memory lane as she shared a glimpse of her early days, recalling her first professional photoshoot and clarifying a long-circulated misconception about one of her images.

Taking to Instagram, the actress posted two pictures—one an authentic throwback from her youth and another that she revealed has been mistakenly attributed to her for years. The sepia-toned original photograph shows a young Zeenat with short hair, captured during her first formal shoot.

In a heartfelt note, she reminisced about the excitement of visiting the iconic Hamilton Studio, one of India’s oldest photography studios, established in 1928. She shared that her mother personally styled her—doing her hair and draping her in a saree—before she nervously posed for the camera.

Zeenat recalled that the shoot took place soon after she graduated from St. Joseph’s Convent in south Mumbai, at a time when she was exploring modelling as a possible career path. Surrounded by film personalities and industry conversations, she said the environment encouraged her to step into the world of entertainment.

She also reflected on how the photograph predated her eventual discovery by Dev Anand, which later launched her successful film career.

Addressing the second image, the actress clarified that it is not her, despite its widespread circulation online. While acknowledging a resemblance, she firmly stated that the picture has been incorrectly identified as hers for years.
