Mumbai, Apr 29: Bollywood actor Aamir Khan has candidly spoken about his personal life, admitting that not investing enough time and emotional connection with his children remains his biggest regret.

In a recent interview, the ‘Lagaan’ actor reflected on his relationship with his children, Junaid Khan and Ira Khan, stating that while their bond has always been good, he believes it could have been deeper during their younger years.

Aamir also opened up about finding peace and happiness in his current relationship with girlfriend Gauri Spratt. He said he feels “complete” in this phase of his life and considers himself fortunate to have met her. He added that while his past relationships with former spouses Kiran Rao and Reena Dutta were deeply meaningful, they did not work out.

Reflecting on his outlook towards mistakes, Aamir said acknowledging one’s shortcomings is essential for growth. He described himself as a straightforward person who believes in learning from life experiences and striving not to repeat past mistakes.

The actor revealed that his intense focus on work for over three decades led him to neglect personal relationships. However, the pause during the COVID-19 pandemic became a turning point, allowing him to reassess his priorities.

Following this realisation, Aamir said he consciously made changes in his life, now dedicating more time and emotional attention to his family, including his children, mother, friends, and close associates. He emphasised that beyond time, the value he places on relationships has significantly increased.

While clarifying that his relationship with his children was never weak, Aamir admitted that he holds himself to high standards and feels he could have built a stronger emotional connection with them earlier in life.
