Los Angeles, Apr 29: The first teaser of Ted Lasso Season 4 has been released, confirming the return of fan-favourite characters along with a fresh storyline twist.

The popular sports dramedy, which many believed had concluded with its third season, is making a comeback on Apple TV+, with co-creator and lead actor Jason Sudeikis reprising his role as the optimistic coach Ted Lasso.

The teaser opens with Ted waking up, hinting at his return after stepping down and heading back to the United States at the end of Season 3. Rather than a grand comeback, the preview offers glimpses of familiar faces, including Brett Goldstein as Roy Kent, Juno Temple as Keeley Jones, Brendan Hunt as Coach Beard, Jeremy Swift as Leslie Higgins, and Hannah Waddingham as Rebecca Welton.

A major highlight of the new season is the introduction of a women’s football team, which Ted will now coach. The teaser showcases the team’s high energy and enthusiasm, marking a significant shift in the storyline.

The concept has drawn comparisons to the Bollywood sports drama Chak De! India, where Shah Rukh Khan played a coach leading a women’s hockey team to victory.

The teaser also features light-hearted moments, including Ted surprising Rebecca and Keeley with his grasp of internet slang, adding to the show’s signature humour.

Season 4 is co-written and co-produced by Bill Lawrence, with Brett Goldstein also contributing to the writing. The new season is set to premiere on August 5 on Apple TV+.
