Mumbai, May 12: Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh is reportedly set to headline one of the most ambitious mythological projects in recent years, with reports claiming that he has acquired the rights to Amish Tripathi’s bestselling novel The Immortals of Meluha for a big-screen adaptation.
According to reports, the actor plans to develop the popular Shiva Trilogy into a large-scale cinematic franchise under his production banner, with the story expected to be told through a three-part film series.

Industry sources stated that Ranveer Singh is likely to portray Lord Shiva in the adaptation of the bestselling fantasy novel, which reimagines Shiva as a heroic figure destined to alter the fate of an ancient civilisation.
Reports further claimed that the actor recently secured the adaptation rights to the book for a substantial amount, though the exact financial details have not been revealed.
Sources close to the project reportedly said that Ranveer had been keen on bringing Meluha to the silver screen for a long time and that the project has now officially entered the development phase.
The makers are said to be approaching the venture as a long-term mythological cinematic universe, with work already underway on screenplay development and conceptual world-building.
Production of the first film in the trilogy is reportedly expected to begin in 2028.
Meanwhile, actor Akshay Kumar had earlier spoken about turning down an opportunity to acquire the rights to The Immortals of Meluha. Speaking at a book event, Akshay said he initially felt he would not fit the role of Lord Shiva and later realised he may have missed a major opportunity after learning more about the story.
Before stepping into the world of Meluha, Ranveer Singh is expected to remain busy with multiple projects, including filmmaker Aditya Dhar’s upcoming film and the zombie thriller Pralay, directed by Jay Mehta.
