Mumbai, May 22: Veteran actress Supriya Pathak Kapur is set to begin a new journey in her career with her directorial debut titled ‘Our Story’, an Indo-Australian collaborative feature unveiled at the Cannes Film Festival.

According to reports, the film is a biographical drama co-written by her daughter Sanah Kapur and is being developed under the banners Rabasusah and Australian production company Films And Casting Temple.

The project also marks a family collaboration, with Supriya’s son Ruhaan Kapur joining the film as associate director and creative producer.

‘Our Story’ will trace the lives of three generations of women from the Pathak Kapur family — legendary actress Dina Pathak, Supriya Pathak Kapur and Sanah Kapur. All three have been credited with the screenplay of the film.

Speaking about the project, Supriya Pathak Kapur described the film as deeply personal and close to her heart. She said the story explores themes of memory, family, womanhood and emotional inheritance, reflecting the experiences that shaped their lives across generations.

The announcement of the film at Cannes has generated interest among cinema enthusiasts, particularly for its unique blend of personal storytelling and international collaboration.

On the acting front, Supriya Pathak was last seen in ‘Assi’, headlined by Taapsee Pannu. The film highlighted the alarming number of rape cases reported daily in India and drew attention to crimes against women.

Director Anubhav, while speaking about the film earlier, had said the title ‘Assi’ referred to the reported average number of rape cases filed every day in the country, underlining the seriousness of the issue.
